Parent Support (PS) Services

Parent Support (PS) is a family-focused service designed to strengthen the parent-child relationship, improve family functioning, and help prevent out-of-home placement. PS provides parents with practical tools, education, coaching, and therapeutic support to better understand and respond to their child’s emotional and behavioral needs.

Services are individualized to the family’s goals and focus on building caregiver confidence, improving communication, and developing effective strategies for managing challenging behaviors. PS may also support parents working toward reunification when their child is currently living outside of the home.

Areas of Support

Parent Support may include:

  • Psychoeducation regarding the child’s emotional and behavioral needs

  • Parent training and behavior-management strategies

  • Coaching to strengthen parenting skills and confidence

  • Therapeutic support to address family and relationship challenges

  • Effective communication and conflict-resolution strategies

  • Strengthening the parent-child relationship and family connections

  • Support with developing consistent routines, boundaries, and expectations

  • Assistance with reunification and transitioning a child back into the home

Who We Serve

PS is designed for parents and caregivers of youth under age 18, with some exceptions for youth ages 18–21. Services are appropriate for parents who are experiencing difficulty managing their child’s behaviors or who would benefit from additional education, training, coaching, and support to improve the parent-child relationship.

PS may also be appropriate for parents working toward reunification with a child who is currently residing outside of the home.

Parent Support empowers caregivers with the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to create healthier family relationships, respond effectively to challenging behaviors, and support their child’s success at home and in the community.
